The Brazen Laver

It has been a while since I have last offered my thoughts on these pages and I will not have to remind you or review too much, although I will just mention where we have covered ground, because you have it here in the previous blogs. And I would like to say how much I appreciate being able to express my thoughts for free using this forum; Blogger.com.

I will just give you a portion to digest today and each day coming so that you can be better prepard for our next Bible Study at the church house. So here is the first excerpt.

In our consideration of the Brazen Laver and what it refers to, we need to read from Ex. Ch. 30, verses 17-21 and I'm reading it from the NKJV. "Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: You shall also make a Laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing". (I believe that it was copper.) But rather than be accused of argument we shall refer to bronze. "You shall put it between the Tabernacle of meeting and the Altar. And you shall put water in it, for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it. When they go into the Tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the Altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die. And it shall be a statute forever to them___
to him and to his descendants throughout their generations."
I get goose bumps when I read this portion of scripture, knowing a little bit of it's depth.

After we have looked at all the furnishings and/or the utensils, starting with the Holy of Holies wherin is the Ark of the covenant which contains the tablets of the Law; the ten commandments and the golden pot of manna and Aaron's rod that budded, blossomed and grew fruit; (all in one night) all covered by the Mercy Seat, that golden lid with the cheribim facing one another and their wings touching in unity, made from one hammered out piece of gold, we back out into the Holy Place and there we stop. It is here, in the Light of the Candlestick that we enjoy fellowship at the Table of Shewbread. The golden Altar of Incense is found here where we offer up prayers of supplication unto our God and it is a sweet smelling savour to Him. It is a place of praise and worship, in fact the Bible calls it a sacrifice of praise, even the lifting up of our hands...this is sacrifice and our prayers are sweet incense. God loves to hear us pray. When Jabez called on the God of Israel and prayed, "Oh! that you would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory, That Your hand would be with me and that You would keep me from evil that it may not grieve me"...(a prayer that any one of us might pray) the Biblke says in 1 Chronicles 4, verse 10 that "God granted him his requests". Whatever that request implied or entailed, God freely and readily granted. God was well pleased with Jabez's attitudfe and the fact that Jabez was an honorable man didn't hurt either. He was honorable in character and he was honorable in faith. His prayer was as sweet incense unto God.

He loves to hear us pray, He loves to hear our requests, He wants us to petition Him. Are you worried about the stock market tonight? Tell it to Jesus. Are circumstances overwhelming you? Tell Jesus...Yoiur wife just informed you that her mother is coming to stay indefinitely...pray!

Psalm 37:4 says "Delight thyself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Our next stop was at the Brazen Altar where the fire was started by God and the sacrifices were made...sacrifices that had to be made over and over and over again because the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer could never take away sin and set men free, but we see in this Brazen Altar a type of Calvary and that once for all time sacrifice that Jesus made when He bore our sins in His own body on that cross. Aren't you glad for the cross tonight? Then we come to the Brazen Laver, last in the order of furnishings as we have been studying it.We will wash there just as the priests did in the Tabernacle service...only there is a huge difference...(Look for more on the Tabernacle tomorrow)
