The fear of the LORD

GETTING BACK TO OUR STUDY IN THE BOOK OF James(WHICH BY THE WAY WILL BE OUR STUDY BOOK THIS FALL IN THE CHURCH HOUSE, AND THESE BLOGS WILL PROVIDE A BASE FOR THAT STUDY), i WOULD LIKE TO READDRESS THE SUBJECT OF WISDOM AGAIN.

James said "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God(for it). Make no mistake....God is the source of all wisdom.

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is both the wisdom of God as well as the power of God. Nevertheless God uses people in whom He has put in their hearts the Spirit of wisdom to help others, Here are some scripture verses from the book of Proverbs that point this out. Prov.11:14 " Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. Proverbs 15:22Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.Proverbs 24:6For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety. Here we see how God can use others to help us make the right choice. Also God has filled certain individuals with a Spirit of wisdom. Such was the case in the building of the Tabernacle that God instructed Moses to build in order that the children of Israel might have a place prepared where God would come down and meet them. Such a man was Bezalel. Exodus 31:1-3 (King James Version)
Exodus 31
1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
3And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. There is one underlying truth in all this that we need to understand and that truth is found in
Psalm 111:10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.Psalm 111:9-10 (in Context) Psalm 111 (Whole Chapter)
Proverbs 1:7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.Proverbs 1:6-8 (in Context) Proverbs 1 (Whole Chapter)
Proverbs 9:10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. It says "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom(and knowledge); it is talking about a reverential kind of fear that fools have no knowledge of. You must reverence God...everything is not a big joke! it is time to get serious about God. Fools are void of understanding and of wisdom, they are like the waves of the sea that James discusses, tossed and driven, vacillating, up and down, a faith that wavers and that is not faith at all. "Let not that man suppose that he
will receive anything from the Lord."..."he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. Where is your priority this morning? Is it in everyday earthly mundane legitimate things or is it in God? "Ask", Jesus said, "and ye shall receive"

What a great study and also the discussion of Isa. 55: 6,7. Wisdom obviously steers us to God - so the two blogs are very connected.
The James/Proverbs study of wisdom reminds me of the scripture in Psalms 14:1 and 53:1 (repeated almost word for word), The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God'.
I have heard this scripture refer to the agnostic who does not believe there is a God. However, this scripture clearly refers to believers. Agnostics use their heads where believers use their hearts. Sometimes we, believers, are careless and say with our mouths that we believe there is a God and that we believe in Him but with our behavior, we show clearly we do not believe in Him. So, whether we like it or not, the Word calls such believers, fools. I so do not want to be considered by my Lord to be a fool.
Thanks again, Randall, for "ringing the bell" (at the top of the pole") and raising the alert in our hearts, to be wise and follow hard after God.
